Robin Wilby is an award-winning NYC based filmmaker. Wilby received their MFA in Film with honors from Columbia University and graduated cum laude with a BA in Visual Media from American University.
Their thesis film, Loop Planes (2010), has won numerous awards, including a production grant from Killer Films/vivigeek.com, and was an official selection at over fifty festivals, worldwide. Prior to that, three of Wilby’s short films won awards as part of The 48-Hour Film Project.
Over the past fourteen years, Wilby has worked in all capacities of filmmaking, including: writing, directing, editing, cinematography, and assistant directing on over 100 short films, documentaries, corporate videos, feature films, such as “Be Kind Rewind” by Michel Gondry, music videos for Yeah Yeah Yeahs, web series for The Onion, TV shows for PBS, MTV, Discovery Channel, HGTV, and A&E, and a commercial for Equal. They have worked for several production companies located in Washington, D.C., and Brooklyn, as well as taught documentary filmmaking at a middle school in NYC. As of 2015, Wilby is in post-production on their own independent feature-length documentary.
