Raising children is not an easy task as it requires exerting considerable effort for a long time throughout our life to keep them healthy and well-educated. We keep doing this until our children grow up and become able to take care of themselves without the need to depend on their parents. It does not matter whether you are a father or a mother because in both cases you have to learn how to take care of your child.
What increases the problem is that children are difficult to control which raises the necessary effort for taking care of them. One of the worst problems from which young children suffer is head lice. There are many factors responsible for it and increase head lice such as playing in dirty places and being among other children with lice-infested hair at school. This problem does not just bother young children who have lice, but it also threatens other adults who live with them as it can quickly spread to everybody’s head. Therefore, it is essential for you to learn how to tackle this problem and get rid of it, keeping your child and the whole family safe.
► How to protect your kid’s head from lice
To keep your child protected from head lice, you have to ask him/her to avoid doing the following:
♦ Using different items that belong to others especially those that touch their heads, ears, necks and hair such as combs, hairbrushes, towels, pillows, hair accessories, scarves, hats, helmets, coats and even headsets that children usually share with each other.
♦ Placing the head close to others’ heads and this usually happens while playing different games or doing activities with classmates and friends. Head-to-head contact with those who have head lice will surely help in spreading lice and infecting your child with head lice.
♦ Storing belongings such as coats, hats, scarves, towels and other clothing in different shared storing spaces and common areas such as drawers, lockers, closets and even hooks especially the common ones that are a perfect environment for spreading head lice and passing it from one person to another.
♦ Touching different items that belong to those who have head lice such as the bed, furniture, towel, clothing and other belongings.
In addition to all of that, you should also:
♦ Check your child’s head and hair every once in a while looking for any small white nits or lice.
♦ Check your child’s clothes that were worn during the past 48 hours looking for any white eggs or lice and wash them.
♦ Wash your child’s sheets using hot water and leave the plush toys that your child sleeps in the dryer for about 20 minutes.
♦ Put the hair care products that your child usually uses in warm water, medicated shampoo solution or isopropyl alcohol from time to time.
♦ Wash your kid’s hair thoroughly and regularly for removing any dirt.
♦ Do a deep vacuum at least once a month and check different household items that are thought to be a good environment for lice to hide in such as towels, rugs, carpets, upholstery and even bedding.
Lice Treatment Products
♦ There are different products that you can use to fight lice and small white nits such as those that contain lemongrass, rosemary oil, eucalyptus oil, citronella, menthol, lavender oil, coconut oil and tea tree oil.
Following all of these tips and taking the necessary precautions will help you to keep yourself and your family healthy.
